Should we rent a car?It is advisable to rent a car on the island. St. Thomas is not very walkable and relying on taxis can get expensive. A rental car will allow you more freedom to explore. There are car rental agencies located at St. Thomas’ Cyril E. King Airport, just outside the airport, near the two cruise ship docks, and at some resorts. Rental car choices in St. Thomas generally include compact, full size, SUV, jeep, minvan, and truck.

Do I need a passport to visit St. Thomas?St. Thomas is a US Territory, so while a passport is not required, it can make leaving a lot easier and faster. If you have a passport, we recommend bringing it. If you are traveling with young kids who do not have photo identification, make sure to bring their birth certificates. Customs officers will require proof of relation or custody for any minors upon you leaving the territory. Also, if you’re planning on going to the BVI's you will need your passport.

Is St. Thomas safe?St. Thomas is just like any other place you live or visit, most people have good intentions but there are those who are opportunists and if an easy target presents itself, they will take advantage. We always recommend being smart, lock your rental property before you leave, lock your vehicle, don’t flash large amounts of cash in public, and be smart when you’re out.
